Five Ways to Style Graphic Tees

We all have them, and maybe only wear them on laundry day or when we know we won’t be leaving the house. I’m here to help you take back the power of the humble graphic tee. Whether it’s your favourite band or just a cool slogan or graphic you love, let’s style them together.

First up is the classic graphic tee and jeans combo with a twist. Instead of just putting the two pieces together and being done, try tucking the graphic tee up into your bra line (or use something like the basic band - not an ad, I just have one and love it)  and accessorising the jeans with a belt, scarf or chain, depending on the vibe. You can also tuck the shirt straight into your jeans if you’d prefer.

Our next styling suggestion is pairing it with a bias cut midi or maxi skirt. You can twist the corner of the tee and tuck it into the skirt, or just let the oversize length hang over the waist and layer. Bonus points if it’s a silk skirt or in a fun print. This is a great one for elevating your tee if you’re going to brunch or a fun date, or just want a more chic look. You can also do the same with palazzo pants or a voluminous maxi skirt.

Styling concept three is pairing the tee with a blazer and matching skirt set (or blazer and pants). Taking one colour out of the tee and matching it into the set is what helps to make this look effortless. I love this one for taking something from casual to a more corporate and styled look. You could even wear this to the office, or out for dinner with your babe or besties.

Another way you can style your graphic tee is by pairing it with a bold print pants or shorts. Think loud stripes, a cute gingham or even leopard print. Use the colour wheel to find complementary colours, sometimes pairing unusual combinations such as a yellow tee with blue and white gingham shorts looks more put together than if you paired them with pants in the same colour way.

Our final styling suggestion for your favourite graphic tees are to layer them. Wear them over a dress (tucking up into a basic band) or under overalls/ pinafores. Or even wear them over a button up shirt with a mini skirt. This is an incredible way to get wear out of your summer dresses through autumn and bring more variety into your wardrobe rotation.

Which styling idea will you be trying first?
